We were in a mid-week prayer meeting a couple of years ago when our host pastor made an interesting observation;
"the saints who attend prayer meetings are the real members of the church"
After the meeting was over, one of my friends had an even more interesting observation;
"the pastors who attend prayer meetings are the real pastors of the church"
I think both observations were on point. Hard truth, yes, but on point.
The scriptures command us to be devoted (continue steadfastly) in prayer.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Col.4:2, NIV
The dictionary defines the word devote as being completely committed to a cause or belief.
Every Christian prays, but only a handful are devoted to prayer. Only a handful are totally committed to it.
Devotion is a personal commitment. For instance, getting up in the morning may not be your favorite thing to do but you do it anyway. You are committed to it.
You can also create a discipline of prayer by continuing steadfastly irrespective of how you feel.
Make a personal commitment today to be devoted to prayer.
PRAYER:
Dear God, please help me by your Holy Spirit, to be devoted to prayer. In Jesus name, Amen.
